Dear Noble Friends and Evolutionaries!

This Sunday morning, my dear collaborator and Peace Arts Guide Lara Printz will be offering a joyful presentation at the New Thought Center entitled “Awakening Your Sparkle: Practices to Connect with Joy, Creativity & Self-Expression.” I hope many of you will come.

As I write, I find myself smiling whenever I pause to look around my studio. Silk Peace Flags shimmer beside Dream Feather Sticks, brushes, and bottles of paint on my worktable. At my desk, tea, books, notes, manuscripts, lesson plans, and schedules carry on their usual creative conversation. Orchids bloom serenely on the windowsill beside my beloved Nataraja statue, overlooking Hualālai Volcano.

Every time I look up, I remember Shiva’s cosmic dance—the great rhythm of creation and transformation—and the immense volcanic energy beneath our island that has continued its creative work for billions of years after an imagined beginning.

Creation never really stops.

Perhaps that is why floating soap bubbles have become one of my favorite symbols.

The photograph I’m sharing with this email captures teenagers from our 2015 Peace Day project at Konawaena High School beneath their newly created Peace Arts banners while bubbles drift through the air. They remind me of those moments when creativity lifts us just beyond our ordinary thinking—when imagination, movement, color, music, and love come together. For that reason, they remind me of Lara and how exhilarating it can be to let play lead the way.

The only other action needed is to give ourselves permission to love and let go, allowing creation to flow naturally through us, pour out in waves of grace, and fill us with gratitude.

Then comes the greatest reward. It isn’t the art itself. It’s that we remember who we really are. That feeling of lightness doesn’t come from escapism or magical thinking. It comes from inspiration.

And inspiration changes us.

That’s why Lara’s presentation matters. Through joyful practices of movement, sensory awareness, mindful attention, and intentional creativity, children—and the child within each of us—discover that peace is something we can practice. Creativity becomes a way of listening, a way of belonging.

Mindful creativity becomes a kind of prayer.

For many years, Pacific ArtWavEs has diligently explored how art, music, storytelling, movement, and imagination can help children regulate their nervous systems, deepen compassion, strengthen resilience, and experience the joy of belonging. Those seeds are now beginning to blossom in ways we scarcely imagined.

If this vision speaks to you, I invite you to visit our GoFundMe page to learn about the next chapter of Pacific ArtWavEs. We have been blessed with a generous matching grant that is helping us build an online Peace Arts Guide training so these practices can reach children, families, educators, counselors, artists, and communities far beyond our island home.

If you are able to make a contribution, we would be deeply grateful. If not, simply sharing the campaign or holding it in your heart is a beautiful gift.

Most of all, I invite you to join me in something even larger.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama reminds us: “Let each of us hold a vision of peace in our consciousness.”

May that vision unfold more fully as each of us becomes both a keeper of peace and a peacemaker.

May we send good intentions, prayers, and peaceful imagination into a world longing for healing.

May we hold a continuing meditative wave of compassion for one another, for our ancestors, for the generations yet to come, and for all who share this beautiful Earth with us.

I continue to believe that humanity is capable of taking another evolutionary step—not through fear, but through peaceful relationship, creative courage, and the daily practice of love made visible.

Thank you for walking this path with us.

With love, gratitude, and every good wish,
Marya
